Italian choir on twin-towns tour

An exciting Italian choir and ensemble - Pueri Cantores della Basilica Cattedrale di Sarzana -are visiting locally, staying with members of the Southwell and Sarzana Twinning Association and performing in a variety of venues while they are here.

The links between the choirs of Southwell and Sarzana Cathedrals are building successfully, alongside the growing relationship between the two towns.

Lay Clerk in the Cathedral Choir, Guy Turner, says: “Last year the men of our cathedral choir sang at Sarzana Cathedral as part of their Italian tour, and in September the Minster Girls’ Choir will be singing there as part of their visit to the region. Both girls and men will be joining with the Sarzana Choir to sing evensong at the Minster on Saturday 23rd April at 5.45. As always, everyone is welcome to evensong.”

Their itinerary includes:

Thursday 21st April - 13.45 in the Orangery, Newstead Abbey

Friday April 22nd - Lunchtime Concert 12.15- in Southwell Minster

Saturday April 23rd - 12.30 Lunchtime concert in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Newark-on-Trent

Saturday April 23rd - Evensong with the Southwell Minster Girls’ Choir and Lay Clerks in Southwell Minster - 17.45
