Architectural History

Kelly House has been altered over the years, but within the rebuilding, the ancient mediaeval hall house survived. The ground floor became the servants quarters when the 1742 extension was added. The Tudor Kitchen has Jacobean paneling and a very large Slate and granite fire place.
In 1742 the Kelly’s built the present elegantly planned Georgian House, with a classic pattern book interior. An annex was added in 1877 with a large games room and estate office.

Architectural Features

Kelly House is a classic Georgian pattern booked house with Tudor and Victorian wings. The house is currently being restored but the majority of the rooms are faded grandeur, including the grand stair case with star covered ceiling and Venetian window. The Library is in the original Georgina colour scheme with stain and grain panelling. The Tudor kitchen has Jacobean panelled walls and large slate & granite fire place. The annex has a large room with original Victorian carved beams. Three of the bedrooms have been restored to provide B&B accommodation.

Filming Attributes

The House is set in a quiet hamlet with very little passing traffic but is easily accessed from the A30. The Georgian front and lawns are completely secluded with no overlooking properties. There is good Mobile reception outside the house. Wifi connections are available inside the house and the rooms have a generous provision of electrical sockets. The use of candles, animals and smoke machines may be permitted by prior arrangement. Night shoots are welcome, there is very little light potation in the area. The owners have a very positive and flexible attitude towards filming. Accommodation may be available in the main house or a full range can be found 3 miles away in Lifton.
